As a cancer survivor and previvor and a migraine sufferer, I am always on the quest for new and better ways to take care of my body. I have had it with diets and restrictive ways of living and tend to favor ways of eating more cleanly, exercising more, managing the stresses of life with greater grace and incorporating overall holistic well-being into each day. This quest is not always easy with my own business, an almost four year old, two dogs, friends and family I love, etc.
I was excited last week when dear friends invited Liberty and me to attend Kimberly Snyder’s Beauty Detox Solution book launch party in Los Angeles. It was a last minute jaunt down to the city to meet Kimberly, learn more about her book and celebrate another opportunity to learn more about upping the ante of self-care.
Kimberly is already a Hollywood sweetheart so the party, which was hosted by Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, was a red carpet affair and had some pretty notable attendees. It is not everyday that you are rubbing shoulders with Fergie, Drew Barrymore, Hillary Duff and David Spade. I also had the pleasure of meeting up again with Joel Michaely who showed and told me he had not taken off his custom Adesso zodiac bracelet since I made it for him last August! Thanks, Joel!
Kimberly prepared a beautiful spread of healthy, Beauty Detox-inspired bites for guests to enjoy, followed that up with amazing vegan carrot cake (I am dreaming about this) and chocolate brownies and gave away some great product and vegan truffles (which we did not get to taste as our friend ate them all while we were waiting for the cab!!!). I did make out with a cool, new C&C California tank top for summer and the yearning to read Kimberly’s new book as soon as possible.
I was able to score the last copy of the Beauty Detox Solution at one of our last local book stores, Chaucer’s, last Friday and have not put it down since. If life didn’t get in the way, I would have stayed up all night reading it. I am almost done reading it, but am really enjoying Kimberly’s ability to incorporate scientific findings with her nutritional program in a way that is clear and motivating. I am learning more about concepts I have studied before and finding areas in which I want to improve. Isn’t that what it is all about?
